Data Collection, Analysis, and Communication Tools

The Upper Peninsula Tree Improvement Center has the equipment needed to collect
forestry field data both manually and electronically. This data can easily be transferred
to one of our networked computers for analysis at the Center or for transmission to campus
via the internet. This internet connection also serves as our link to the libraries of
Michigan State University which augments our on-site, computer-cataloged reprint
collection.
Information developed at the Center is distributed on signs, brochures, publications, and in the library of this WEB site. Signs are fabricated using a Roland Digital CAMM-1 computer-driven vinyl cutting device.
In addition to standard forestry field and lab tools like; hip chains, relascops, calipers, D-tapes, increment borers, compasses, tapes, balances, glassware, etc. The Center also has some equipment for specialized applications:
