| One of the most basic things foresters have to do is to identify trees. Foresters not only have to know what kind of trees there are, but they also have to know what those trees are used for, where they grow, and how they grow. For example, jack pine grows on sandy, dry sites and is used for paper, construction board, and Kirtland's Warbler habitat while sugar maple grows on rich upland sites and is used for furniture, bowling pins, and deer browse. That's not all of course, but you get the idea? |
