Trevor Nichols Research Complex

Staff

The TNRC facility houses both a full time research staff and farm management staff. On John.gif (15247 bytes)the research staff, John Wise is the TNRC Research and Extension Coordinator and is responsible for facilitating the activities of MSU researchers and manages the fruit insecticide efficacy trials and IR-4 program on station. John has been with the TNRC since he received a Masters degree from the Dept. Entomology in April 1990, and has since completed a doctoral degree in the MSU Dept. of Resource Development.

smalllaurie.gif (13790 bytes)Kevin Schoenborn (schoenb6@msu.edu) (left) is a research assistant for Dr. Wise. His primary responsibility involves managing all aspects of the Station's efficacy trials. In addition, he is responsible for overseeing the maintenance pesticide and herbicide programs for approximately 90 acres of tree and small fruit plantings.

ryan2.gif (14705 bytes)Ryan Vander Poppen (vanderp6@msu.edu) (right) is also a research assistant at the station. Ryan is responsible for insect colony maintenance, running insecticide resistance bioassays, managing the TNRC web page, and running the insect trap-line.

Jason Seward (right), a technical staff member is primarily responsible for the spraying in the residue program (IR-4) and for insecticide efficacy trials, and also works congruently with the farm management staff.

Lori Lamb (Left) is involved in field efficacy trials, experiments conducted in the lab, as well as insect colony maintenance.

On the farm management staff, Matt Daly (below left) is the farm manager and has been with the TNRC for 29 years now. Matt is responsible for the overall facilities and farm Matt Dalymanagement of the station. Wayne McFarland

Wayne McFarland (right) is a technical staff member (and assistant farm manager) and has worked at the TNRC for 27 years. Wayne is involved in farm management activities like orchard planting and equipment maintenance as well as pesticide spraying for research and maintenance purposes.

Brandon Lange (Left) and Jamie Polk (Right) are part of the farm management staff and work on various maintenance activities such as orchard mowing, pruning and spraying.

A Gomez (not pictured) is primarily responsible for coordinating the new Tree Fruit and Blueberry Integrated Pest Management Scouting Certificate Programs, which are to be offered in the new Gus Howitt Conference Center, located here at Trevor Nichols Research Complex. She is also involved with various research projects at the station.

Mike Haas (Left) is employed by Larry Gut of the Tree Fruit Entomology department at MSU. Mike is primarily responsible for conducting on-farm field research in the southwest part of the state. His office is at the Trevor Nichols Research Complex in Fennville

Steve Van Timmeren (Right) is employed by Rufus Isaacs and the Small Fruit Entomology department at MSU. Steve also works out of an office here at the Trevor Nichols Research Complex.

There are currently seven MSU faculty with ongoing research programs at the TNRC. They are Drs. Larry Gut (MSU Tree Fruit Entomologist), Rufus Isaacs (MSU Small Fruit Entomologist), Jim Miller (MSU Entomologist), Annemiek Schilder (MSU Small Fruit Pathologist), Mark Whalon (MSU CIPS Interim Director), and Deborah McCullough (MSU Forest Entomologist).
