Example of chisel plowing
Chisel plows are replacing moldboard plows.  They reduce soil erosion, lower fuel costs and reduce time compared with moldboard plows.
Example of no-till practice
No-till practices are well adapted to corn and soybean crops in the region, but dry beans and sugarbeets do not adapt well to no-tillage.

These soils rely on freezing and thawing over winter to break down larger chunks of soil resulting from plowing.
