Upright drybean growth architecture
The upright growth architecture, incorporated into current drybean varieties, enhances yield potential and makes direct cut harvest possible in some situations.
Drybeans growing in flooded field
The ability to maintain quality though bad weather is another desirable trait which breeders try to incorporate in new varieties
Graph depicting yield stability
Yield stability over time is evaluated over a multi-year period.
Sugarbeet breeding for improved emergence
There is also a sizable sugarbeet breeding effort carried on, in part, at the Bean and Beet Farm.  Improving emergence is one goal of this effort.
Manganese deficiency in drybeans
Soil fertility and nutrient management research is also conducted at the farm.  Above is a slide of manganese deficiency in drybeans.
