Futures is written in non-scientific terms for the general public. Each issue profiles the work of several MAES scientists organized around a specific topic. Recent issues have focused on the bioeconomy, global research and sustainable farming methods.

Animal Agriculture and the Environment: Finding Balance

Air quality and water quality are the two biggest concerns associated with animal agriculture, and both are directly related to manure and how it’s handled. In this issue, read about MAES scientists’ research to develop new tools and techniques to help livestock farmers have minimal impact on the environment, as well as help non-farmers understand what it takes to produce enough food to meet demand.
