Policy on the Appropriate Use of MAES Funds

Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES) resources are to be used in support of MAES projects.

MAES appointments are limited to those faculty members whose research is consistent with the MAES mission.

In addition to faculty salaries, MAES support may include:

• a reasonable share of basic support of the department, including administrative services and staff support.
• support of graduate assistants assigned to MAES supported faculty with MAES projects.
• research operating costs in direct support of MAES projects including technical support, supplies, materials, and appropriate travel.

All expenditures made on MAES accounts are subject to University policies and procedures as found in the MSU Manual of Business Procedures.
