Current conditions and forecasts
Welcome to Fred Russ Forest. The forest is one of fourteen Agricultural Experiment Stations of MSU and this particular station is one of four administered by the Forestry Department - (Kellogg, UPTIC, Russ, and Dunbar). Forest products and Christmas trees are among the top 20 agricultural crops in Michigan, adding more than $508 million to the state’s economy each year. The Fred Russ Forest Experiment Station allows researchers to conduct long-term research on Christmas tree seed production and other projects aimed at preserving the diversity and abundance of Michigan’s forests. The Russ Forest also features a 12-acre park that is open to the public for hiking, biking, fishing, cross-country skiing and horseback riding.
